The Food

Breakfast
Breakfast is usually served between 8.30am and 10.00am (or earlier
on request), a copious continental style breakfast buffet is laid out in the
elegant dining room. Breakfast at Le Verger is often a social affair, as
being in France, all of our guests eat together around one large table.
Dinner
We also offer evening meals,
these are served at around 8pm, in the French 'table d'hôtes' style - where,
like at breakfast, all of our
guests dine together around one table. This is a great time to share the
days events and make new acquaintances whilst enjoying traditional French
style cuisine. Dinner consists of 4 courses and is
accompanied by ¼ litre of wine per person.
The following
shows a typical dinner served at Le Verger:
-
Salad of
smoked salmon and prawns with a lemon and olive oil dressing.
-
Loin of
pork with a scrumptious sauce of Limousin apples poached in red wine,
served with French beans and a gratin of dauphinois potatoes.
-
A
selection of cheeses.
-
Cherry ‘clafoutis’ (a delicious regional speciality) with
a tantalising cherry brandy sauce.
-
Tea,
coffee or a tisane (herbal tea).
Meals are served on fine Limoges
porcelain, either in our spacious dining room or, weather permitting,
outside on one of the terraces. We cater for vegetarians and special
occasions on request.
