La Creuse in the
Limousin is magnificent.
Famed as the lake district of France, the department is beautiful and
totally unspoilt.
Nestling in the foot hills of
the Massif Central, the undulating Creuse countryside is heavily forested
and scattered with sleepy hamlets reached by a network of small
country lanes. The architecture consists primarily of traditional stone
houses, with a mix of more modern rendered properties and barns ripe for
conversion!
The creusois people, in our
experiences, are friendly and welcoming. There is a real feeling of
community spirit, most locals grow their own vegetables and raise their own
animals for meat and eggs. Teenagers are pleasant and helpful, and there is
not the anti-social ‘drink culture’ that is so prominent in the UK today.
There is a relaxed outlook on life, often remarked upon as similar to
Britain fifty years ago.
It is no surprise that many
visitors come to the Creuse searching for a slice of this idyllic way of
life. There is plenty of space for everybody and property prices are
still very low compared to other areas of France. Centrally located for
discovering not only the Creuse but the two other departments of the
Limousin, Le Verger is in the perfect location to commence your search. Our
property is situated 5 minutes walk from the town centre of Bourganeuf,
which is served with all amenities, including three English speaking
estate agents.
